What band insturment?

Why does the trumpet only work on second valve?

My son has been playing the trombone and recently rented a trumpet to try playing it. He can make a sound when he presses down the second valve, but no sound comes if none of the valves are pressed. Also, valves 1 and 3 make no sound when pressed. Is he not playing it correctly or does something need to be adjusted? The rest of us tried playing it and had the same result.

Is this baby acne or something different?

I cant post a pic because my battery is dead but I can describe it. First off it is only on his face....not his body. He does have a dry scalp sometimes but his scalp isnt my worry. His "acne" covers his face and wrinkles his ears. They are lil red spots and some have white dots in the middle. They arent inverted at all. When I wipe his face with a facecloth sometimes a bunch of skin flakes come off. His eyebrows have crusty scabby looking peices on them and he had a crunchy scabby thing behind his ear and it smelled. He bathes every 2nd nite. He is 1 month old and exclusivly breastfed. Shows no sickness symptoms. Doesnt seem itchy. Forehead is shiny. What is this that covers my lil ones handsome lil face?

Is it such a good idea for me to try out for a DCI group?

I'm a woodwind player, well, actually i play the flute but I really want to play trumpet and try out for Crossmen or Pioneer or even a division II corps but I don't even know how to play a brass instrument. I don't own the instrument but i've been using a friend's. I want to play a trumpet and try out on that but I know like 5 notes and my sound quality is terrible. I'm willing to put in the time and effort to improve my sound and everything. I want to try out in about a year which would be my junior year. I really want it and I heard if you want something really bad you'll end up getting it. I'm unsure and I'm nervous if I would be able to even make a corps. If you think I could what corps do you think I should try out for? I'm really selling myself short but I need someone else's opinion. Please help!!

I would back up music and video files on an external hard drive. Documents and other important files that aren't as large as music and video, would go to something like, say, a LiveMesh, SkyDrive or Dropbox account so that it is stored off-site.

Which instrument should I play?

I'd go with drums. If you just want to play rock, drums are really pretty easy to pick up, even if you don't get any training (not to say you shouldn't, but I learned just by trying to play with songs I knew and watching guys play beats on youtube). Plus, they're lots of fun to play, and you can just play along with a song without having any sheet music or anything. You just feel the beat and go with it. Not to mention the fact that you don't actually have to be able to read pitches or play scales or anything like that (you need to know rudiments and a few different symbols, but you should be pretty good with that if you already know how to read music). I'd go with drums. Good luck!

Why couldn't my dog get up drooling and stiff front leg tongue hanging out to one side?

my 14.5 year old bichon frise was put to sleep as vet said he was in pain on 2nd june 2011 im still beating myself up as if i could have done more on the day before he was put to sleep he ate some food as usual then we went for a walk to the park when he got out of car he was limping came home was fine that night drank some water next day was fine came back from shops had a bit of runny poo by back door then later did another one outside which was still loose and stuck to his behind still wiped him and i gave him treat about 10 mins later he was falling side to side and could not get up his heart beat was quite quick and was drooling front leg was stiff no usual eye movements no sick but tongue was hanging out to one side when i laid him on floor he could not push himself up to get up again i'm soooo sad i can still imagine him trying to get up on my front room floor, even though he was quite old could not get up stairs has catrasis in one eye seemed just old had him checked at vets about 7 months ago did liver test as we said he was drinking alot of water so no diabetes and liver was fine my friend noticed last week he has a bloated stomach he's had bad gingivitis for a while which i have given him dental chews for but don't work . i don't know how one day we were in the park and he was a bit wobbly it was quite hot so i just put that down to him been hot and old so i carried him around then came home and he was fine to the next day and then the above happened after he had treat on the day in question i was looking in his mouth he had broken tooth. I can't get these questions out of my head was it a stroke as he was drooling and stiff leg or was it bloat or a broken tooth which i saw after he had treat on day in question could i have nursed him back i had to take him to vets they said he was in pain i could not stay while they euthanized him as had child with me now i feel bad about that as well gave him big kiss told him i loved him said he was going to see granny in heaven then he wagged his tail i feel i left him when he was my loyal companion what if he was scared not in pain maybe an ear infection.

I wouldn't be able to answer you on the wipe question. But a tip that has helped me (14) is If your going to do a workout or any physical actIvity with sweat running down your face it's best to take a shower asap to remove any sweat or dirt. Now I don't think it would be as easy for a girl to take a 4 minute Shower to quickly remove anything so you can replace that by just getting regular face wash and use that to clean your face. I do know that when I don't take a shower right after a workout and he sweat just drys I tend to break out, well good luck :)

How do I get my band to appreciate me?

I'm the bassist in a band. I feel unappreciated by the guitarist and particularly the drummer. I'll start with the guitarist. He, at least, understands the importance of my role in the band. But he obviously thinks his instrument is far superior to mine. I remember once we were talking about how Jimmy Page first played bass in his band but then got put on guitar. He described it as Jimmy Page getting a huge promotion. Another time we were talking about how Paul McCartney first played trumpet and then guitar and then bass. The guitarist said that he got a promotion and then a demotion. I'm not saying he's not entitled to think his instrument is better - I think bass is better than any other instrument - but I wish he wouldn't constantly talk about like it's a fact. Now for the drummer. He obviously see's no point in me being in the band, which is really bad because we need to work together being the rhythm section, but I don't see how we can when he doesn't see the point in bass. He's said before that he hates bass and that he doesn't think it's neccessary. I don't know what to say to him. I just feel really underappreciated. ANy suggestions to what I should do? And I don't want people saying 'leave the band' unless they think that's the only thing to do, because the guitarist and drummer are really nice guys and my best friends.

well i know what you mean because i was the same way and what worked for me was to play a piece that i've played a thousand time over and over, each time more quickly then the last. i would recommend playing the chromatic scale like that too, slowing down when you reach notes that could be harder for beginners, like high c, and make sure you hit the note before going to the next one. you have to practice bottom line, almost everyday too. oh, and also just try to improv solo to a random beat too. it might be frustrating at first, especially if you don't have a friend learning at the same pace but just keep your eye on the ball. you'll be good before you know it

There isn't much you can do to speed it up. Some people drink caster oil but it gives you really bad diarrhea and makes you sick. Don't rush it. And being induced isn't bad, it actually is a much quicker labour usually than if you go naturally. Just relax.

Why Does this Scrape Keep Burning?

I was at a drive in yesterday and my friends and I were playing football and i was running to catch the ball and I fell on a rough patch of grass and got a nice sized scrape on my knee. It wasnt even bleeding badly. It bled like one small drop. I used wipes and washed all the dirt out and then put antibiotic ointment on it, but it still hurt really bad the entire movie. I came home and poured hydrogen peroxide on it and then some burn stuff called bactine or something and put antibiotic ointment on it and covered it up with guaze. I went to bed without pain and woke up and it had a scab but it hurt and burned to move my leg. I treated it the same way but it still really hurts. I've had scrapes on my knee before, but they've never hurt this bad. What's wrong with it, and how can i numb the pain and treat it?

(but this cat was highly inbred and the runt of the litter) give her a can of wet food every day because she might be underweight. You don't mention how long you've had your kitten. How can I get better at band?

I've been in band since the end of fourth grade and I'm now going into my sophomore year. I started on trumpet then transferred to baritone at the end of my eighth grade year and I absolutely suck! Did I screw up my Playstation 3?

Missing Drivers For My Computer?

Hi, in my last recent question I had asked "Hi, I play Redbana Audition and lately my keys have been unresponsive. The same thing happened to my laptop, where I play Audition too, but I'm not sure what's going on. In the middle of a move, the arrow I press won't go and it'll just stop. I'm repurposing on old cabin for the lumber, to my surprise it has a lot of insulation in it. Can I reuse the insulation without polluting my new structure with cigerette chemicals? Newborn baby boy has diaper rash?

My one week old baby boy has a diaper rash. I feel so bad. We change his diaper at least every 30 minutes because he poops so much. I think it may have started from wipes. When i was in the hospital i they gave me dry wipes that you wet with water, and once i came home i started using pampers wipes. I have since started using a washcloth with water, but it doesn't seem to be helping. We make sure his bum is completely dry before putting another diaper on him, and have even started using a hair dryer set on cool, which he seems to love. Calms him down instantly. I have been using Penaten cream. I have done tones of diaper rash research on the web but everything says something different. I have been putting his bum under a running tap to ensure it's cleaned well. I can't stop thinking about it, it makes me sad every time I see it. It doesn't seem to be bothering him much, he isn't crying constantly, and he eats and sleeps great. I just don't want it to get any worse. Any tips? Please?

Questions about admission into college?

Alright well Im a average student I guess. A's and B's with C's in math and science in my earlier high school years. Right now I have all A's and B's minus a C in science.... Im really good in history and its probably my best subject. I scored a 1550 on my SAT and got a 7 on the essay part thing. As far as extracurricular activities im in Marching Band I play first trumpet well I did I auditioned for Drum Major and got it (highest student position in marching band) in concert band I was first chair for the underclassmen band for two years untill i moved up to the higher band where I was third chair out of 7. Im in jazz band. Ive been given the leadership award for band for three years straight. Im also in Boy Scouts and I got my Eagle Scout last year. Ive been in scouts since I was 11. Im a Latter Day Saint and ive done a ton of volunteer work with my church and scouts getting over 200 service hours. So my question is do I have a chance of getting into a good college. Im really looking at the University of Georgia, Florida State University, and other schools like that I really wanna stay down south lol. But with those grades and SAT score and everything else ive done will I be able to get into those schools? I think I want to major n business or criminal justice and one day try and get a job with the FBI or US Marshals or become a lawyer or something in communications im a really good talker and ive been told I have great people skills. So yeah. Do I have a chance?

Am I doing my tattoo aftercare correctly?

I'm just curious cause I just recently got a tattoo and I wasn't given a care sheet. It's on my shoulder, and colored red. She gave me some wax for it after I clean it. I use soap, but I get it on my hands, and wipe it on the tattoo, and then take a wash cloth and squeeze the water to go down it. Then I take some paper towel, and lightly press it against the tattoo areas, and remove it. Then air dry it for about 5 minutes, then put the wax on it. I'm also curious if it's regular for the tattoo to leave some imprints of the tattoo in my shirt at times. I'm quite not sure if it's blood or not considering it's red. But it doesn't run with ink when I clean it. Also when are good times to clean it? I do it in the morning, afternoon, and at night.

for a junior i would say pedal C to high D. what works for me in practicing for range and endurance is lip slurs and arpeggios. for the arpeggios start on the low F sharp and end on the F sharp at the top of the staff.then continue with G then A flat ect. keep going until your break ( when the notes dont come out anymore). take time to rest and play some pedal tones to loosen up.

( complicated question) So, I really really want a Bassoon right. I never played on a double reed before, I played on trumpet and clarinet and just a little flute. I learned how to play clarinet in 1 week and a half ( extreme practicing). Why do my eyelashes keep falling out!?!?

Basically, today i got into an argument with my mum and it made me cry, and after i had made up with her i realised that some of my eyelashes had gone. It's hard to explain, basically i cry and then wipe the tear away either taking the eyelash with it or scraping of all of the skin leaving my bottom lashes bald. I don't wipe it with pressure and this only ever happens when i cry for a long time. It has happened before and my eyelashes grew back. I can't find any answers on google or anything, it's really strange?

Trouble playing high notes on trumpet?

I hadn't played for like five days.. (usually I play everyday but something happened where I wasn't able to.) And yesterday I picked it back up. I've been playing for about 5 years. I wasn't serious about it at first but I've got pretty good and I love it. Ever since I resumed my practice routine, I can barely hit high C above the staff and high D and E. Usually I can play very well with a nice tone to double G and I can squeak up higher. But I am not doing so well. Did I permanently ruin my range? What can I do? I'm freaking out-- I'm going to be a sophomore and after the required freshman concert band I'm in the highest band in school and I want to try to get first chair and band camp starts the end of July so I was hoping to show I've got better..

I need ideas on how to prove Empire Today is a fraudulent company!?

I purchased a floor for our kitchen from Empire Today. They said it was perfect for our kitchen. After it was installed, the installer told us not to get it wet. I immediately called Empire and they said, don't worry, it has a 25 year warranty. After five years, it is ruined from the dishwasher, the dogs dripping water on it when they walk away from the water dish and just wiping the floor down with water. Empire originally said they would not honor the warranty because I got the floor wet. They said would replace the floor with they same type if I paid them $2,500. After months and months of the run around and a BBB complaint, Empire offered to replace the floor for free with a signed agreement saying I think they are a fabulous company; or they will put in a more water resistant floor if we pay them the $2,500. I contacted the manufacturer TWICE and they said this floor would not be appropriate for our situation. I then asked Empire for ANY amount of money so I can purchase some tiles to install myself. No go. The BBB is useless. I have found hundreds and hundreds internet posts about people who Empire has screwed over like me. I need some ideas. I am not a sneaky person and I need advice from some good imaginations out there. How can I prove Empire is lying to people, how can I get them to budge at all, what works to get a company to do the right thing? I was just going to write the parent company, but from what I find about Empire Today, they really would not care anyway. Thanks for your help!

Should I play the violin or viola?

Both are great instruments and require as much dedication and practice as any other string instrument. In my personal opinion, the violin is a much more versatile instrument with a much greater repertoire than the viola, not to say that the latter isn't a fine instrument. I would start on violin and refine your violin skills. Then, if you're still interested, switch over to viola. The two instruments are actually fairly similar, the only difference being that the viola is tuned a fifth down, meaning that it has a lower sound. Also, the intervals on the fingerboard are slightly larger, but not enough to really affect your playing substantially. Good luck though.
