Did I screw up my Playstation 3?

My PS3 wasn't working suddenly, Idk why. I was playing New Vegas and it froze. When i rebooted it it said hard disk cannot be found. So, i heard some options about safe mode. So i started safe mode and picked the one that would fix it but wipe out everything.So, in the progress of clearing my data. I regretted picking that option and restarted my PS3. But now it wont go back in safe mode no matter how many times i try. Im thinking about picking option 4 which clears all messages and fixes it, makes your PS3 faster, and fixes the glitch. But now i cant go into recovery mode. Did i screw up cuz i exited out that mode? Or should i wait a couple hours and try again? I really need help pls
