When this begins to happen, will you believe that the Book of Revelation is true?

Revelation is a book full of figurative speech. It also is full of events that happened at the time it was written rather than a futuristic book. That is what Jewish Apocalyptic literature is. Why would John write to persecuted churches about the future and not address the present? If he used regular language then Rome wouldn't have delivered the letter.
