Ok girl, I am going to have to go all high school on this. I am going to break it down for you. He likes you. Then on the bus, he said all that stuff to impress you. (stupid, i know. talking about other girls only serves to piss us off, but boy did he make you jealous, probably his goal. he wanted you to know that he is wanted so you too should want him.) then he told the girl with the biggest mouth in school that he likes you, she told you. Do you remember when you were young and boys used to punch you when they liked you, saying hi to your friend, but not you is the high school version of that. My advice, tell that loud girl who told you he liked you, tell her this, "Yeah, don't tell ______, but I like him. If he would ever ask me out and stop playing games, I would totally go out with him. Please don't tell him." She will tell him immediately, and then he will wait two weeks before he finally asks you out. Good luck.
