Physics: Howd the photoelectric effect experiment influence the scientific thinking concerning light behavior?

The photoelectric effect shows that light can act as a molecule in a sense that it can knock electrons out of orbit of an atom, usually ionised metal. Since we have already proved that light is a form of EM wave, this shows that light is capable of acting as either, known as wave-particle duality.
