It sounds like 1. he was either sincerely into you or thought you'd be easy to manipulate; 2. you got too close so he freaked; 3. he saw you again and either got jealous, sincerely wants you back, or again is trying to charm you into letting him use you. You need to figure out whether it's worth risking things with your current bf, and whether you think he's just going to dump you again. Personally, I think he's just going to pull the same stunt again, so you'd be better off avoiding him.
